Humanity has always had an innate need to tell stories, to connect with others via the exploration and sharing of the human experience. That need is important more now than ever – and why you should donate to KOA Theater.
While the internet has brought us closer together, social media has made interaction more distanced and impersonal. Content can be absorbed without the spark of humanity that only live performances can provide; that indescribable energy felt and shared between stage and audience. KOA Theater, with its vision to provide humanistic content, strives to be a place to witness unique and powerful theater, while providing a home for all performers willing to share their art with the world. From our own season of shows, to visiting theater-less production companies, to acrobatic performances, dance companies, improvisational comedy, amateur performers – the list goes on.
By supporting KOA Theater, you also have the opportunity to offer theater to underprivileged groups and individuals with KOA’s “Pay It Forward” program – which creates a pool of donated tickets. You also have the opportunity to be on the ground level of an edgy, scrappy, punk-rock vibe theater with a growing base of patrons who value the power of live storytelling. And who knows, you might even have the opportunity to name a bathroom after someone!

KOA Theater is incredibly excited for our next chapter in Downtown Honolulu. We’ve already produced an entire season and hosted several other companies’ productions in our new space at 780 South Beretania Street; but the renovations required to fully convert this former warehouse into a new home with two functional stages won’t be easy.
We need your help to realize our vision of a professional and welcoming space for KOA and for guest companies, for our artists, and for our audiences.

Seed Tier

Donate $1.00 or more
- Every KOA contributor will receive a “Digital Bumper Sticker” to share on their social media or other online venue, identifying them as a donor at the Seed Tier to KOA Theater and a supporter of the arts!
Donate $25.00 or more
- In addition to the tax documentation and Digital Bumper Sticker recognition above, donors at this level will also fund 1 “Pay-It-Forward” ticket donated in your name, for use by groups and initiatives that support our Hawaiʻi community.
Donate $50.00 or more
- In addition to the tax documentation and Digital Bumper Sticker recognition above, donors at this level will also fund 2 “Pay-It-Forward” tickets donated in your name, for use by groups and initiatives that support our Hawaiʻi community.

Donate $200.00 or more – Meet the Cast
- In addition to the tax documentation and Digital Bumper Sticker recognition above, donors at this level will also be invited to meet the cast backstage after one of our MainStage performances.
Donate $400.00 or more – “Double Date” with the Board
- For donors at this level, in addition to the tax documentation and Digital Bumper Sticker recognition above, two of our Board or staff members will treat the donor and a guest to dinner at the restaurant of their choosing.
- Make it a “Kobayashi Maru” and Board members Garrett Hols and Andy DeWald will also dress up as Star Trek’s Kirk and Spock for your meal. (They say it’s for charity, but we suspect it’s mostly a chance for them to cosplay…)
Donate $600.00 or more – Video Thank-You
- For donors at this level, in addition to the tax documentation and Digital Bumper Sticker recognition above, the cast of the current show will create a brief video thanking the donor for their support, and post it on KOA’s social media.
- A copy will also be provided to the donor to post on their own social media!
Donate $800.00 or more – Personalized Video Gift
- For donors at this level, in addition to the tax documentation, Digital Bumper Sticker recognition and thank-you video described above, one or two cast members of the current show (or artists associated with KOA) will make a personalized video for the donor: a song, a reading of a poem, a monologue, etc. Something specific and special just for you, to be shared with individuals or on your social media.
Donate $1,000.00 or more – In-Person Appearance
- For donors at this level, in addition to the tax documentation, video recordings and Digital Bumper Sticker recognition, one or two of the cast members of the current show (or artists associated with KOA) will perform for the donor in-person: a song, reading of a poem, sketch, scene, etc.). Something specific and special just for you or the person/people of your choosing.
- Artists will work with donors to arrange a specific date, time and place for the performance.
Trunk Tier – Individual Sponsorship
